Mom Manicure

This is for all my moms out there!... or, just anyone pressed for time really, and who isn't??

This is my absolute favorite nail polish. I know that according to ads and Pinterest "Essie" nail polishes are where it's at. However, as a mom of two little girls who ask all the time to have their nails painted and I cringe because they of course cannot stay still long enough to not wipe their nail polish off on the floor/walls/seat cushions/their clothes, and as a mom who is exhausted at the end of the day and waiting even that extra 20 minutes for my nails to dry only to wake up in the morning with them smudged from my sheets anyway, I can tell you that these Sally Hansen Insta-Dry nail polishes are the bomb diggity. They really do practically dry in an instant.

*Note: Sally Hansen has ZERO clue who I am or that I am writing this, these are just really awesome

I gave up painting my nails a while back simply because I did not have the time. Well, I suppose I did, but what time I did have I didn't want to spend on that. I now have down my quickest manicure routine this side of the Mason-Dixon.

Step 1:
Gather the necessities

Step 2:
Start with clean dry nails, and use some cuticle removing cream or gel. I use Sally Hansen's. Probably because that's what Walmart and our grocery store sell. It works fine, but knock yourself out with whatever you'd like to use.

Step 3:
After washing your hands with warm soapy water, lay on your color of choice. You can file them if you'd like, but unless I've bitten them into some ridiculous shape, speed is the name of my game, so I don't do a lot of that. I also love these polishes because they are thick and they have a really wide brush making them so much easier to apply than a lot of other polishes I have.

My 6 year old was helping mama out and took this picture for me!

Today I chose Snappy Sorbet

Step 4:
Apply a top coat. Now, a real, full-blown manicure requires a base coat, but I like funky colors, especially during the summer, so I'm not usually going for super longevity, just for the next two or three days. I do, however, apply a top coat because it sort of melts the Insta-Dry polish and actually smooths it out even more, and while it does make the drying time a little bit longer, it's still not anywhere near normal polishes. I don't have a picture of this, but I used Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails UV Top Coat.

I swear, this is really not a sponsored post, I didn't even realize it was all Sally Hansen until I typed this out!

5 Minutes later (less if you don't use a top coat)....

Bam! You're ready for your neighbor's backyard BBQ, or a spa day with your babes.
